A backward spin in an attitude position provides an interesting conclusion to a back camel. This spin is in its developmental stages.
Exiting a backward spin.
Side Spin
My signature "side spin", a variation of an attitude spin. The free leg is held straight and to the side. This spin was an important precursor to learning the layback. It is called an "L spin" my skating novel, Saving Grace.
New Spin Variation
This position is a kneeling version of the side spin. It is presently a work in progress.
A little girl in double runner skates watches as I rise from the position.
My Favorite Spin
Entering the layback with a straight free leg.
Layback with a raised arm position.
Layback with the arms folded over the chest.
Another layback variation with the arms down. In the journal, I wrote about learning a layback combination that incorporated a layback with the arms down, to a side spin (attitude), to a second layback with the arms raised.
