These pictures were taken in January 2004.
The "rink" is a cleared space on a pond in a public park.

There's paradise as seen from the parking lot. Not a soul in sight.
No competition from fierce little "champions" for a spin space.

I am alone on the ice.

Even though the ice was rough compared to manicured indoor rink,
it was not bad for a natural shovel-scraped pond rink.

Forward camel. Sloppy back camel.
It is not easy to do a back camel on bumpy natural ice.

Backward crossovers. Landing a waltz jump.
I was able to do a decent forward sit spin on the pond rink. My position is a deep sit and my free leg is very straight in front of my body. Notice the bull's eye marks on the ice from other spins. Apparently, I had no trouble centering, bumpy ice or not.

Here is an example of one of my spin tracings on the pond.
Pretty nice, but then I've always liked my own cooking.

A pair of upright spins: forward and backward.

I left plenty of evidence of my presence on this rink.
And a good time was had by all.
