My name is Kay and I am an adult figure skater. This means that I learned to figure skate as an adult in contrast to grown men and women who continue to skate recreationally after pursuing competitive careers in their youth. I created this web site in June 1999 to offer a different perspective on figure skating, from the view point of an adult skater. I have been skating seriously since 1992; although I learned to skate in the most basic terms as a child. Through this web site, I hope to share the joys, emotions and experiences of an adult who has committed to skating after many skaters have retired. My skating journal includes insights into skating technique and personal experiences as I improve my performance as a figure skater. The journal is updated weekly, so please bookmark this page and share my pursuit of those elusive skating elements! If you are looking for an unusual skating story, read my skating novel, "Saving Grace, The Life of an Adult Figure Skater". I have not finished the novel yet, but chapters will be added as I complete them. Presently, a new chapter is added twice per month.

This web site also includes an extensive Technical Glossary of skating terminology. The glossary focuses on elements of freestyle figure skating. Currently, the sections on turns, glides, spins, flying spins, and rotational and positional jumps are complete. Miscellaneous jumps will be added soon. The basic terminology section is under construction.
