One Hundred Bits of Skating-Related Crap About Me
1. I never had a good axel.
2. One of my cats is named “Lexie”.
3. My beloved cat, Surya, passed away in 2007.
4. I have watched every skating movie ever made including the one with the Three Stooges.
5. I still have the Ice Castles paperback I read in the seventies.
6. My skates are custom made.
7. I took Learn to Skate classes as a kid.
8. I took my first private lesson at the age of 24.
9. I thought roller disco would be around when I grew up.
10. I wanted to be a roller skating waitress.
11. My skating motto: Faster, higher, stronger…than last week.
12. My best skating spin is the layback.

14. Peggy Fleming inspired me to skate.
15. I broke my ankle doing a right backward outside three turn in July 2006.
16. I rotate clockwise and land on my left foot.

26. I still limp sometimes.
27. I could do a flying camel before I could do a flip jump.
28. When I was a teenager, I taught myself to spin on roller skates.
29. I could do a gorgeous Ina Bauer on roller skates but never on ice.
30. As a kid, I hoped we would move someplace cold so I could skate on a pond.
31. This offended my best friend.
32. I love to make skating dresses but never wear them.
33. I have a plastic storage tub filled with wrap-around skating skirts.
34. I am addicted to Lycra.
35. My favorite female skater is Dorothy Hamill.
36. My favorite male skater is Ilia Klimkin.
37. I am too big to skate pairs.
38. After the breast reduction, I got my camel.
39. I honestly thought artistic roller skating would be an Olympic sport.

100. When all is said and done, skating is still cheaper than therapy.
